The Government of Romania has received a loan from the International Bank for
Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) toward the cost of the Mine Closure,
Environmental and Socio-Economic Regeneration Project, and it intends to apply
part of the loan proceeds to payments under the contract for mine closure and
environmental remediation works for Gura Baii Superior Mine. The Ministry of
Economy and Commerce now invites sealed bids from eligible bidders for the
closure and environmental remediation works at Gura Baii Superior Mine. The
works shall include demolition of buildings, earthworks and treatment of mine
workings. The delivery/construction period is 12 months.
Bidding will be conducted through the international competitive bidding
procedures specified in the World Bank’s Guidelines: Procurement under IBRD Loans and IDA
Credits, May 2004, and is open to bidders from all countries
as defined in the guidelines.
Interested eligible bidders may obtain further information from and inspect the
bidding documents at the Ministry of Economy and Commerce at the first address
below from 0900 to 1600 hours.
A complete set of bidding documents in English may be purchased by interested
bidders on the submission of a written application to the address below and
upon payment of a nonrefundable fee of RON 975. The method of payment will be
direct deposit to account number RO67 BRDE 250 SV 0345 7462 500 open at BRD
Baia Mare. The document will be available for pick-up from S.C. RO-MIN SRL Baia
Mare at the second address below.
Bids must be delivered to the first address below by 1200 hours local time on
28 May 2007, and be accompanied by a bid security of RON 300,000 or an
equivalent amount in a freely convertible currency. Late bids will be rejected.
They will be opened immediately thereafter, in the presence of bidders’
representatives and anyone who choose to attend at the same address of delivery.
